The Earl Barnett Family


Earl is a native of Hendersonville, NC.  He was saved at 12 years of age in 1950.  He was called to preach on July 5, 1959.  He was ordained in the ministry by Mountain Home Independent Baptist Church after graduation from Bob Jones University in 1963.  Joan is from Batavia, Iowa.  They met while students at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina.  

They were married June 6, 1964 and have four children.  Letha, their oldest, is married to John Tachick.  They liven in a suburb of Phoeniz, AZ.  They are active members of Northwest Valley Baptist in Glendale, AZ. They have three daughters, Stephanie, Alyssa and Tiffany.  Letha teaches piano and serves as a teacher's assistant in Arrowhead Christian Academy.  John is a Project Superendent for MERG-ICON constructio in Peoria, Arizona. {

Bettina, their second daughter, is married to Jeff Shue. They are missionaries serving on the border between the USA and Mexico for over 25 years. In 2002 they founded Valley Independent Baptist Missions, in Donna, Texas.  This is a helps ministry serving missionaries and national pastors with housing, food, literature, vehicle storage and postal services.  They have served over 7000 missionaries and national pastor's from their Donna facility. They have a daughter, Meagan, who is married to Mario Olmedo and they have a daughter, Olivia.

Joel is married to Alice White and they live in Greer, South Carolina.  They are very active in their church Second Presbyterian (PCA).  Joel serves as both deacon and elder.  He is Coatings Specialist at BMW Manufacturing in Greer, South Carolina where he has work for over 25 years. He is responsible for new color introduction and pre-series color match on all models. He also is Global Project Leader for color match harmonization in China and South Africa.  They have a son, Geoffrey.  All of the Barnett children are graduates of Bob Jones University

Yetta, their third daughter, is married to Brent Miller.  Brent and Yetta have served the Lord for more than 10 years at Grace Baptist Church in Muncie, Indiana.  Brent is an Assistant Pastor and Yetta serves in their Christian School.

In addition to serving as pastor, Earl served the Lord in various leadership capacities of the Alaska Baptist Association for over 20 years. Prior to returning to King Cove, he served for 17 years on the Board of Trustees of Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. He presently serves on the Executive Board of the Foundation Baptist Fellowship International and served for 25 years as Coordinator of the Alaska Regional of Foundation Baptist Fellowship

After serving at Soldotna Baptist Church for 25 years, the Barnett's entered into a unique threefold ministry for 9 years.  Three months out of the year they would be involved in Midnight Sun Ministries in Alaska. MSM was a summer mission team ministry in bush Alaska staffed by college age students. There were over 60 students involved in this ministry.  Three months out of the year they would minister at the Valley Independent Baptist Missions headquarters in Donna, Texas and six months a year they were in itinerate ministry representing VIBM as Field Representative in mission conferences and meetings.   This ministry took them to almost 200 churchs in 39 states across America and British Columbia Canada.

In June 2012 the Barnett's returned to King Cove which was their first village church ministry.  They organized King Cove Bible Church in December 1966.  When they returned in 2012 there we basically 3 couples and a couple of ladies and vertually no children in the church.  They reorganized the church on April 10, 2016  with 26 adult members of which were 9 couples.  God blessed the church and counstruction on a new sancturary in June 2019.

Because of Earl's medical issues, they had to leave King Cove in Juen 2021.  They are now serving in the ministry of Valley Independent Baptist misions and a colaborer with their son-in-law Jeff in a church plant ministry of Canaan Baptist Church in Welsaco, TX.
